Like a Flood
The words of a well known Welsh hymn that translated say; "Here is a Love as deep as oceans, tender mercies like a flood". Such hymns are incredibly rousing when sung in a Welsh chapel congregation, or by a Welsh choir. For me, they are the utmost expression of religion in the non-conformist service, and are uplifting to partake in as a communal activity. The words of these hymns are amongst the finest 'love poetry' ever written. The image presents the words as a rising mountain, suggesting the swelling of emotion to a crescendo, a 'high'.
